Kirk Leads Wire to Wire And Takes First Win of 2011!

Every time the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour visits the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, there is bound to be a good show put on. This past Thursday night was even better than most with some of the most aggressive and hardest racing ever seen out of the Legends Car drivers. Normally, the cars that are open wheel for the most part are not supposed to touch without consequence, but tonight, the drivers were able to make it work, but run as clean as the tour is known for, running caution free.

At the start, it was the 70 of Tylar Braunschweig and the 17 of Terry Kirk on the front row. When the green flag flew, Kirk was able to take the race lead as he pulled out to a straightaway lead with the 05 of past Nelcar champion Jacob Dore right behind. While they ran each other hard for the race lead, a group of cars including the 1 of Aaron Lewis, the 13 of Carl Blandina and the 56 of Evan Beaulieu were on their way to join the battle for the lead. As they got to dicing it out for the lead the 27 of Kevin Hutchens snuck his way into the top three while the 399 of Bob Weymouth got into the group as well. While Kirk held strong at the front, Dore and Hutchens ran each other hard for second while Beaulieu ran on the outside for most of the final laps as they all tried to make something happen. After three wide passes and beating and banging, all the cars crossed the line clean with Kirk, the tour’s president and one of the most respected drivers on the circuit, leading the entire race and picking up his first win since 2008! Hutchens crossed the line second just in front of Dore with Beaulieu and Blandina rounding out the top five.

The fans loved the show the Legend Cars put on as always. After just three points races at Beech Ridge, Hutchens leads the points by 11 markers ahead of Beaulieu and just 20 ahead of Kirk. The next race at Beech Ridge will be next Thursday, July 7th. Racing starts at 7PM and grandstand admission is just $4 and just $8 to get in the pits. Next weekend the tour will be back at the Unity Raceway for another thrilling race as well, racing there starts at 6PM.
